About Us

Sustainability

All of our new materials are sourced from suppliers who are FSC or PEFC accredited .

This means that the timber they supply has been acquired from  a sustainable source.

FSC – Forest Management Chain of Custody Certification allows the consumer to identify and purchase wood from well managed forests.

PEFC – Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification  is the world’s leading forest certification system and internationally recognised brand devoted to ensuring that forests are managed according to environmental, social and economic criteria.

If we can, we like to track the material we use to a specific location and are able to tell our customers  the forest where their furniture or other product has come from.

We have local architectural salvage firms who supply second hand materials, adding to our sustainable approach.

Savernake Forest Oak

Savernake Forest is famous for its large collection of old oak trees, some of which are believed to be up to 1000 years old, Big Belly Oak, being the largest and most well known. Oak is our material of choice and we will use English oak where we can.

The oak we use for furniture usually comes from a  forest in the UK.  Our green oak is normally sourced from  Europe, a lot of it French and for furniture that requires a clean grain American White Oak is a lovely material to work with.

We also work with other materials and have some local Yew air drying at the moment, which is going to be used for furniture.

Where a particular aged character is required we will seek out salvaged materials, that brings its own unique features to the finished article
